In 1738 William Cathey lived at Beverly Manor. Brother John Cathey came from Ireland to claim his land when William died. But John went to Carolina with other relatives.
Hannah Cathey married Richard Graham
The over-mountain men split and left in two groups, one toward Gillespie’s Gap and one toward Hefner’s Gap. The Gillespie Gap contingent went to Cathey’s Fort.
